I recently visited “yellow”, a highly popular cafe in Tochigi City that’s perfect for dates and girls’ get-togethers, to check out their highly anticipated new menu!
The biggest highlight this time is definitely the collaboration Kakigori (shaved ice) with Tokyo’s ultra-famous shaved ice shop, “Sabo Okuno Shibuya”! On top of that, new variations have been added to yellow’s signature dishes: the “Pakkan Omurice” (a fluffy omelet that splits perfectly open over rice) and their “Premium Pancakes.”
Whether you are searching for a delicious lunch in Tochigi City or looking to treat yourself to some exquisite desserts, this review is for you. I’ll be sharing everything you need to know, from the cafe’s wonderful atmosphere to a detailed look at their fantastic new dishes!

There is a parking lot right next to the cafe, making it very convenient to visit by car. Inside, you’ll find comfortable sofa seats like these, and…

They offer table seating that can be adjusted for different group sizes. The spacious and relaxing atmosphere makes it perfect for girls’ get-togethers or a date.

Ordering is done in a modern style by scanning the QR code on your table with your smartphone. For this visit, I was kindly permitted to borrow a paper menu to take some photos for you! (*Please note that some items may no longer be available, but I’ll list them all together at the end of the article.)
“Pakkān!” right before your eyes! 🍳✨ Check out yellow’s new omurice: Lu Rou Fan & Tom Yum Kung!
First up, we ordered their brand-new creation: the “Lu Rou Fan Omurice”!

It comes served whole at first, and then they slice it open right in front of you—a total show stopper! Watching that soft, runny egg spill over never fails to get me hyped.

And top it off with the sauce, and it’s complete!
This is my first time trying the Lu Rou Fan omelet rice, but it’s super satisfying with its slightly sweet Lu Rou Fan sauce packed with big, juicy pieces of meat!
Mmm, delicious. It really goes to show that a great restaurant always serves amazing food, no matter what they make.
Here’s what the Lu Rou Fan omelet rice looks like from above.

Next up was this!

“Tom Yum Goong Omelet Rice.”
Here’s what it looks like from above.

The Tom Yum Goong sauce is a must-try for Thai food lovers! It’s not overly sour and pairs perfectly with the smooth, mellow egg of the omelet.
Mmm, this one is delicious too!
Just one heads-up, though: it comes with quite a bit of cilantro, so if you’re not a fan, don’t forget to ask them to leave it out when you order.
To be honest, I’m not huge on cilantro myself, but coated in the egg, the flavor became so mild that I thoroughly enjoyed it!
A dream collaboration! ‘Whole White Peach Royal Milk Tea Shaved Ice’ supervised by Sabo Okunoshibuya
Now, onto today’s main event: the “Whole White Peach Royal Milk Tea Shaved Ice,” a collaboration with Sabo Okunoshibuya!

This was, quite honestly, out of this world…!
It goes without saying that it was delicious, but it had such a complex, deep flavor that made it feel truly high-end.
Let me try to explain what made it so incredible:
First, the peach on top is filled with a mascarpone-like cream, and this combination with the peach was the very first moment of bliss. Next, the flavor of the milk tea syrup poured over the fluffy shaved ice—along with its perfectly subtle, elegant sweetness—was absolute perfection.
As you dig deeper, you’ll find jelly, white bean paste, and even fresh peach chunks inside! You can enjoy a whole variety of complex flavors, so you never get bored until the very last bite.
Treating yourself to something like this would be the absolute best.

“Peach Pancakes!”

Look at this stunning presentation!
On top of the fluffy pancakes from yellow—which I’m fully convinced and certified as the absolute best in the prefecture—there’s a generous mountain of perfectly sweetened whipped cream, drizzled with a melt-in-your-mouth sweet peach sauce.
On top of that, a cool peach sorbet is hidden inside the pancakes, and the plate is packed with generous pieces of sweet, juicy peach chunks on the side. I mean, how could this NOT be delicious?
With just one bite, I couldn’t help but groan in delight, “Yep, yellow’s pancakes really are the best…”

After indulging in this incredible peach feast, I devoured both the shaved ice and the pancakes in no time. What a meal!
Omelet rice, shaved ice, pancake—no matter what you order here, you’ll never be disappointed, and the quality is guaranteed to leave you fully satisfied. If you’re looking for the perfect spot for a date, a girls’ day out, or just to treat yourself, definitely keep this place in mind!
Below, I’ve included links to my previous posts about the omelet rice and pancakes I had on past visits to yellow, along with their latest menu updates.
If you’re visiting Japan from abroad, you absolutely have to try the “cut-open” fluffy omelet rice, fluffy pancakes, and Japanese shaved ice! This place is within walking distance from Tochigi Station, so be sure to check it out!
